News: 50 Cent Film "All Things Fall Apart" Slated For Early 2012 Theatrical Release

In an effort to promote the upcoming movie, Things Fall Apart, a trailer of the Mario Van Peebles-directed drama has been released. The film is the brainchild of 50 Cent, who co-wrote the script with Brian A. Miller and stars as Deon Barnes. Things Fall Apart has been drawing attention since the summer of 2010, when photos emerged of an emaciated 50 Cent; the rapper lost over 60 pounds preparing for the role.

As Barnes, 50 plays the role of a top-tier college football player who is stricken with cancer. Prior to playing the scrawny version of Barnes, who was presumably undergoing radiation treatment and/or chemotherapy, 50 portrays a dreadlocked version of the lead character. According to Fif, a personal friend with cancer inspired the story. Things Fall Apart is one of several films created under 50 Cent’s Cheetah Vision imprint—part of a $200 million joint venture with Lions Gate.

By attempting to transform himself from a 35-year-old to a Heisman hopeful in his early 20’s, can 50 Cent increase his acting profile? So far, according to Metacritic.com, which averages dozens of individual movie ratings from top critics, 50 Cent’s last three theatrical releases scored an average of 41 out of a possible 100. 50 briefly spoke about the movie at the Miami International Film Festival.

“I hope people get a chance to get to see how excited I am about challenging myself in different ways,” 50 explained. “Because it’s not an action film—it’s a family drama—I was advised not to do it.”

News: Toxicology Reports Show No Illegal Drugs In Amy Winehouse’s System At Time Of Death

The family of singer Amy Winehouse has released a statement today regarding toxicology tests taken after the singer’s death which reveal that there were “no illegal substances” found in her body at the time of her death.

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death,” the statement read. “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”

“The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October,” the statement concluded.

Winehouse’s formal cause of death remains unknown and will be not be released until October.

The 27-year-old singer was found dead at her flat in London’s Camden district July 23.

Officials reportedly found no drug paraphernalia or sign of drugs in Winehouse’s home.

Bruce A. Goldberger, a toxicology professor at the University of Florida, said the negative toxicology result does not completely rule out the involvement of a drug or a combination of drugs that could have been missed by the testing procedures or were metabolized before the test.

He said some prescription drugs, illicit drugs and “designer” drugs can escape detection.

Nor does this test result rule out the toll years of drug and alcohol abuse could have had on Winehouse’s body.

“The misuse/abuse of illicit drugs as well as prescription drugs can lead to cardiovascular disease and other changes in the body that can lead to death,” Goldberger told ABCNews.com. “Alcohol abuse can cause similar changes.”

News: Collabo Album: Birdman Confirms Lil Wayne/Drake Collabo LP Coming

Lil Wayne and Drake are both preparing to release new albums this year. Cash Money CEO Birdman confirmed to XXL mag that Weezy and Drizzy has a collaboration album in the works. “Wayne and I recently talked about [the Weezy/Drake collabo album],” Baby told XXLMag.com. “That’s definitely going to get done.” Keep reading:

Birdman promises that Wayne and Drake will offer up a different sound from that of Jay and ‘Ye.

“It’s older versus younger,” Baby said. “I listened to a few songs [off Watch The Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board.”

“But what they’re doing is great,” he added. “I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole. I just think when Wayne and Drake get together is going to be something real special also because we more youthful.”

In the mean time, Weezy’s Tha Carter IV drops on August 29, followed by Drake’s sophomore LP, Take Care on October 24.
